| Arora urges ministers, legislators to curtail unwanted expenditure | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 20- BJP Spokesperson Ramesh Arora has called upon the legislators to curtail their unwanted and undue expenditure if they want to do the justice to poor and their electorate who have voted them in power. Ramesh Arora reminded the legislators and the ministers about the survey conducted by Directorate of Economic and Statistics Department 2009 which gives a decimal account of the economic condition of the state and its people. He urged the MLAs and Ministers to realize that the people who have voted for them are leading a miserable life and even do not have basic requirements to sustain healthy and normal life. Arora said all the MLAs should try to lead a simple life instead of wasting money for security as status symbol or spending a lot on unwanted programmes and activities to show their strength and popularity as every body knows that MLA is elected as he has following and say in masses. They have to formulate programme and policy by which they can meet out this challenge. ‘How we can justify above 37 per cent poverty ratio. I fail to understand, why public has become immune to the system? I will also appeal ministers especially to lead a simple life, it will add to their popularity as the people to whom they represent are poor, who are unable to meet basic necessities of life. Districts like Reasi, Kishtwar and Ramban are on top of poverty index BPL percentage. In Reasi it is 37.93 per cent, Kishtwar is having 37.72 per cent and Ramban 37.37 per cent. BPL ratio in Poonch is also above 33.67 per cent and Doda figures at 30 per cent. Our economy is exposing the irresponsible attitude and slogans of political masters? One can say a poor is becoming poorer and rich is becoming be richer, he claimed.
