9th International Yoga Day celebrated at GDC, Marh

JAMMU, June 21: The NSS Unit and Department of Physical Education and Sports at Govt. Degree College, Marh, came together to celebrate the 9th International Yoga Day. Under the guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul, a series of activities were organized to commemorate the occasion.
The celebrations commenced with a Poster Making competition on the theme "Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam." Participants displayed their creativity and enthusiasm in showcasing the essence of yoga through their artwork. The following day, an event called "Photo with Family while doing Yoga" took place, where students and faculty actively participated, capturing moments of yoga practice with their loved ones.
On the actual International Yoga Day, a live Yoga session was conducted. Students, faculty, staff, and Principal Prof. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul warmed up and then engaged in various yoga asanas. During the session, Principal Prof. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul emphasized the importance of yoga in our daily lifestyle. He personally taught essential physical, mental, and spiritual practices to the participants, highlighting how these practices can enhance health and boost immunity. The Yoga asanas were demonstrated by Ravi Kumar, a Physical Training Instructor, who also explained the benefits of each asana. The event was conducted under the guidance of NSS PO Prof. Sachin Bhagat, who managed the proceedings smoothly.
In recognition of the participants' efforts and dedication, the esteemed Principal awarded certificates to all the participants, acknowledging their active participation in the event. The celebration of International Yoga Day at GDC, Marh, brought together the entire college community, fostering a sense of unity, well-being, and appreciation for the practice of yoga.
