6/23/2023 10:15:32 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 23: Raman Suri, Executive Member of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jammu and Kashmir, praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for creating a world record during International Yoga Day 2023 at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York. Leading participants from 135 nations, PM Modi showcased the transformative power of yoga, demonstrating that it is not only a physical practice but a way of life.
Suri commended PM Modi's assertion that yoga is free from copyright and patents. He also extended congratulations to PM Modi and India's permanent representative to the UN, Ruchira Kamboj, for securing the Guinness record for the "most nationalities in one yoga session." This achievement fills India with pride, as it signifies the country's leadership in promoting yoga globally.
According to Suri, PM Modi's efforts have successfully made yoga a universal practice. The PM's interaction with children following the yoga session left a lasting impression on their minds and hearts. While yoga is already embraced in the West, this event has taken it to new heights. It is expected that more individuals will now adopt yoga as a way of life to enhance their physical and mental well-being.
Highlighting PM Modi's words, Suri emphasized that yoga belongs to all, transcending national boundaries, religions, and ethnicities. He encouraged everyone to incorporate daily yoga practice into their lives for maintaining good health. Since the declaration of International Yoga Day nine years ago, people worldwide have been practicing yoga consistently. This achievement underscores India's invaluable contribution to the world in sharing the gift of yoga.
Suri reiterated that PM Modi's vision of promoting yoga for the well-being of all is now being realized, marking a significant accomplishment. The United Nations General Assembly endorsed International Yoga Day in 2015, following PM Modi's proposal, making it an occasion mandated by the UN. This milestone fills every Indian with pride.
Since the inception of International Yoga Day, people have been celebrating this occasion in various locations, including mountains, beaches, institutions, offices, and historical and religious sites. Suri urged people, particularly the youth, to embrace yoga as a way of life, as it fosters mental tranquility, disease prevention, and overall well-being. Yoga promotes discipline, patience, and mental and physical harmony.
