Webinar on J&K leaders' contributions to national freedom struggle held

KATHUA, June 24: The Cultural Committee of GDC Billawar organized a webinar on the theme of "Unity" to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, focusing on the significant contributions made by the leaders of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) to the national freedom struggle. The event took place on 24th June 2023 and witnessed the participation of numerous students and faculty members from the college. Dr. Alka Sharma, the esteemed principal, provided guidance and supervision for the webinar, commending the efforts of the keynote speaker, organizing secretary, and members of the cultural committee for successfully arranging the event.
Dr. Shamim Ahmed Banday, the revered resource person and Convener of the Cultural Committee, delivered an informative talk on the contributions made by J&K leaders to the national freedom struggle. He emphasized the collective responsibility of society to acknowledge their supreme sacrifices and restore the honor of our forefathers. Dr. Banday emphasized the importance of commemorating the contributions of J&K's people in the freedom struggle. He highlighted the sacrifices and contributions of eminent personalities such as Sarvanand Kaul Premi, Giridhari Lal Dogra, Maqbool Sherwani, Brig. Rajendra Singh, Prem Nath Dogra, Kanta Wazir, Ghulam Nabi Mir, Hakim Abdul Rashid, and Prithvinath Kaul. These individuals serve as great motivation for present and future generations to work on new ideas for a self-reliant J&K.
Dr. Pinkey, a member of the Cultural Committee, served as the organizing secretary and moderated the program. The webinar was chaired by Prof. Lekh Raj, Convener of IQAC, and attended by faculty members such as Dr. Kulbir Singh, Prof. Anil Kumar Verma, Dr. Mohd. Maqeem, Dr. Suram Singh, Dr. Manu Sharma, Prof. Sunita Kumari, and Librarian Vidya Lal.
