Jal Shakti department organises awareness programme on JJM

RAMBAN, June 24: Jal Shakti Department Ramban today hosted a hand holding cum awareness cum orientation programme for Implementation Support Agency (ISA) representatives, PRIs, Anganwadi and Asha workers to achieve optimum results and ensure effective implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission Scheme in the district.
Deputy Commissioner, Ramban Mussarat Islam was the chief guest of the programme also attended by Chief Planning Officer, Dr. Kasturi Lal, Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti, Rajeev Gai, AEEs, IEC Expert JJM and all other functionaries of concerned departments.
During the session, the IEC Expert educated the attendants through demonstration and Power Point Presentation, besides water testing.
Awareness was spread among the Anganwari and Asha workers about rain water harvesting, artificial recharge, testing of water quality, water-borne diseases, water conservation, water cleaning, drinking water source augmentation, sustainability aspects, etc. During the programme, the Deputy Commissioner urged the officers to adhere to the laid guidelines and maintain the highest level of transparency and accountability in the implementation process. He highlighted the importance of Pani Samitis for their immense role not only in providing adequate water supply but also in maintaining cleanliness of the surroundings of water bodies.
He also informed that a total of 88 schemes of JJM will cover the 57738 households tap connections across the district. He urged the participants to conserve water under the 'Catch the Rain' mission and other rejuvenation methods.
He exhorted the officers to put in coordinated efforts to achieve the desired results and meet the timelines set for the completion of tasks at all levels.
The Deputy Commissioner laid emphasis on encouraging the local communities to take over the rural water supply system for operation and maintenance and help administration to make the "Har Ghar Nal Se Jal" mission successful.
