| Attending R-Day Parade mandatory for Govt officials | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 21: Employees of State government and Public Sector undertakings have been asked to attend Republic Day function at Bakshi Stadium here and Moulana Azad Stadium Jammu to evade punishment liable for dereliction of duty.
General Administration Department (GAD) has issued an order no. 06 - GAD of 2009, Dated 19-01 -2009 asking the employees of Kashmir region to attend the R-day celebrations at Bakshi Stadium, the main venue for the celebrations in the summer capital.
"All the Officers/ Official of the State Government and Public Sector Undertakings stationed at Srinagar are called upon to attend the Republic Day function 2009 at Bakshi Stadium as part of their official duty," reads the order.
According to PBI, The order with signature of a Special secretary to Government, Sufi Mohammad Yousuf, further reads: "Heads of the Departments and Chief Executives of the Public Sector Undertakings stationed at Srinagar may in particular ensure own participation and participation of the employees subordinate to them at the above function."
The order also warns of strict actions against the employees who fail to turn-up to attend the function.
"Failure to attend the function will be construed as dereliction of duty and disobedience of Government instructions," warns the government directive.
Recently the state government issued an order that reads: "In exercise of powers conferred by the explanation of Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (Central Act 26 of 1881) read with Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs Notification No. 20/25/56/Pub-Ist dated 30-11-1957, has declared Republic Day as public holiday in the state.
A similar order—circular no. 05-GAD; dated 19-01-2009 has been issued for the employee of the Jammu region and they have been directed to attend the function to be held at Moulana Azad Stadium Jammu. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is will be the chief guest of the function.
The order has been circulated to All Financial commissioners, All Principal secretaries, Secretaries to Government, All Commissioner Secretaries to Government, All Heads of Departments, chief executives of all Public Sector Undertakings, Pvt Secretary to all Cabinet Ministers, PPS to Chief Secretary and Pvt Secretary to Commissioner Secretary to Government.
