JAMMU, June 26: Government Degree College (GDC) Sidhra, Jammu commemorated the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26th June 2023. The day serves as a reminder to address the serious issue of illicit drugs and strive for a drug-free society. The theme for this year's campaign is "People First: Stop Stigma and Discrimination, Strengthen Prevention."
As part of their contribution to increasing public awareness, the Anti Drugs and Rehabilitation Cell of GDC Sidhra, under the banner of IQAC, AKAM, and Mission LiFE, organized various activities. The first activity was an awareness lecture delivered by the college principal, focusing on the theme "Karo Yog, Raho Nirog." The principal highlighted the benefits of practicing yoga and meditation in leading a stress-free and healthy life. He also emphasized the role of yoga in substance abuse treatment and coping with daily life stressors.
The second activity involved poster making and slogan writing on the theme "Stop Drug Abuse." Students from different semesters actively participated and created impactful posters conveying the message against substance abuse.
The third activity was an awareness campaign with the theme "#SayYesToLifeNoToDrugs." Students from various semesters participated in the campaign by clicking pictures with thematic captions related to solutions to the problem. They also shared these pictures on social media platforms like Whatsapp, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to reach a wider audience.
The activities were organized by Prof. Deepa Kak, Convener of the Anti Drugs and Rehabilitation Cell at GDC Sidhra, under the guidance of Dr. B.B Anand, the esteemed college principal.
