Sadhotra criticizes Home Minister's visit as disappointing, neglecting people's suffering

Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 26: Former Minister and senior National Conference leader Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today described Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to Jammu and Kashmir as disappointing and total failure, saying that instead of addressing the issues of immense public concern like water, electricity, unemployment he resorted to politicking and playing to galleries by whipping up communal passions.
"More than public concern, the Home Minister appeared to be worried about the 2024 Elections in view of growing public resentment against the BJP due to its anti-people and anti- poor policies ", Sadhotra said while addressing a public meeting at Kote (Talab). The public meeting was organized by Jenab JP Gandhi, Senior Advocate and with the blessings of Jenab R C Gandhi, Justice (Retd.) Sadhotra said that the people of Jammu had no expectations from the Home Minister, given the BJP's dismal nine year performance in every sector, but they had the hope that Shah will pass on instructions to the Lieutenant Governor's Administration to ensure the basic minimum necessities like power and drinking water during the ongoing scorching summer season.
The electricity supply in rural areas of Jammu region is hardly 2-4 hours a day and frequent cuts even in Jammu Municipal Corporation and in many villages of Jammu North Assembly Constituency like Bhalwal and other areas of Raipur Domana, people are getting water after twenty days, what will be happening in far flung areas only god knows. The much hyped 'no power cut in metered areas' has proven to be a big joke while water scarcity is taking the toll of the people. The administration that can't solve emergent problems of the people has no right to stay on, he added. The Former Minister said the BJP top brass, especially the Home Minister, have no clue as to what is going on in Jammu and Kashmir, which reflects by the callousness and black listed approach towards public issues. After pushing the erstwhile sensitive state to the wall, the saffron brigade is taking sadistic pleasure in public agonies, be it the regularisation of daily wagers or unemployment glaring on frustrated educated unemployed. The so-called double engine government has multiplied the sufferings of the people during their misrule, he said. Mr Sadhotra referred to lack of utility services and rising inflation, saying the middle and poor class of people are facing the major brunt. There seems no recourse to get out of this pitiable situation in sight. The BJP has not deprived the people of their political rights but also undone the gains of decades registered under the responsive and effective governance under the National Conference, he said, adding the people will never forget and forgive the BJP for its sins. Mr Sadhotra asked the rank and file of the National Conference to gear up for big challenges ahead to steer out Jammu and Kashmir from the mess create by the BJP. He said the people, especially the youth and the poor deserve a better deal which can only be delivered by the National Conference, a force to reckon with and a mass movement that has been in the forefront to serve the people of Jammu and Kashmir, irrespective of religion and region. "It is the party of poor, peasants, working class, marginalized segments of society that has flourished as a big Carvaan over the decades to steer J&K to peace, progress and prosperity", he said adding that the party will continue to play its historic role in facing the adverse situation. He said National Conference has a chequered history of public service and its role in upholding the dignity and identity of the people, irrespective of religion and region cannot be ignored or undermined. "This spirit is not only to be sustained but promoted as well by strengthening the bonds of amity and brotherhood", Sadhotra added. Prominent among those present on the occasion included Rakesh Sharma Youth National Conference District President Jammu, Pandit Kuldeep Sharma NC leader, Nipun Gandhi
