DODA, June 27: District Magistrate Doda, Vishesh Mahajan and Senior Superintendent of Police Abdul Qayoom today asked the enforcement agencies to keep a close eye on Educational Institutions, Medical Stores and Medical Institutions to prevent proliferation of drug abuse in the district.
Charing the 12th NCORD meeting here today, they asked to tighten noose on the habitual offenders, drug peddlers and their supporters to free the district from drug abuse. It was informed that 50 panchyayats of the district have been declared as drugs free by the collective efforts of all the stakeholders and PRIs. Drug testing kits are in use to confirm the suspect and take a further course of action. The meeting discussed the achievements and plan of action to curb the drugs menace in the district.
The DM, the Chairman of the NCORD, instructed the CMO and other concerned to enforce installation and functioning of CCTVs in all the medical stores, clinics, and nursing homes in the district. The CMO was further asked to give final shape to the proposed Rehabilitation Centre in the old hospital Bhaderwah, to put the facility to use immediately.
SSP Doda, who is the Convenor of NCORD, directed the Police officers down the line to prepare the Dozier against the peddlers including the detail of their property so that the same can be processed for strict action as per law. He informed that though the drug addiction and its trafficking have reduced considerably in the district by the consistent efforts of all the stakeholders, but the miscreants continue to make attempts to revive it. By the reduction in the availability of drugs, addicts and peddlers are switching to the other modes and means, of which the agencies must remain vigilant and watchful for timely action , he added.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, ADC Bhaderwah, SP Headquarter, SDM Thathri, SDM Gandoh, SDM Assar, SDPOs, SE PWD, ACP Doda, CAO, CEO, DIO, DMO Doda, DFO Bhaderwah, Tehsildars, SHOs and other concerned officers and officials.
