Jammu Smart City marks 8th anniversary with grand yoga session

JAMMU, June 27: In a spectacular celebration of the 8th anniversary of Prime Minister's landmark Smart Cities Mission, the Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) organised a mega Yoga practice session on Tuesday at newly developed Indoor Gym and Park with Cycle Track, Channi Himmat. The event witnessed an overwhelming response of residents from across Jammu city.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO), JSCL, Rahul Yadav; Additional CEO, Rakesh Gupta; Director Technical, JSCL, S L Kapoor; IT Manager JSCL, J P Singh; GM Finance Ashish Anand and other officials attended the session.
Embracing the spirit of the Smart Cities Mission, the event aimed to commemorate the remarkable progress achieved through the implementation of this visionary initiative in Jammu.
Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 25, 2015, the Smart Cities Mission strives to enhance the quality of life of residents and drive economic growth throughout India. Jammu, chosen as one of the smart cities in Round-3 in June 2017, has emerged as a shining example of modernization and sustainable development.
Speaking on the occasion about the mission's vision for Jammu, Chief Executive Officer of JSCL, Rahul Yadav, stated, "Our goal is to transform Jammu into a sustainable and economically vibrant city with a focus on tourism and quality of life."
Yadav added that JSCL has successfully completed several remarkable projects as part of the Smart City Mission. "These notable achievements include the newly inaugurated 'Improvement of Road from Dogra Chowk to KC Chowk', and many others like modernization of Narwal Mandi, the introduction of a Public Bicycle Sharing System, the construction of state-of-the-art multi-level parking facilities, the façade lighting on the iconic Tawi Bridges, and the mesmerizing Sound and Light Show at Bagh-e-Bahu," he said
Furthermore, he informed that the JSCL has played an instrumental role in enhancing the aesthetic appeal of Jammu with vibrant wall paintings across the city and landscaping projects outside esteemed institutions like Jammu University and Government College for Women (GCW).
CEO JSCL also revealed that JSCL is actively pursuing the ambitious development of Tawi Riverfront project, which will be a game-changer for the city's allure and tourism potential.
He also informed that the electric buses will arrive soon. "The electric buses will promote eco-friendly transportation as well as reduce carbon emissions in the city."
Later, JSCL team led by Rahul Yadav did cycling on tracks in the Channi Himmat Park and honoured the yoga instructors.
