| Sanction for prosecution of Head Assistant | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 21-The Government today accorded sanction for prosecution of Mohinder Singh, the then Head Assistant cum- Accountant in the office Asst Commissioner Development Udhampur who was caught red-handed by the Vigilance Organization on April 17, 2008 while accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 from a contractor for issuance of cheque of Rs 1, 20, 000. Asif Zad lodged a written report with Police Station on April 17, 2008 alleging therein that Director Rural Development Jammu allotted construction work of 18 metre span RCC bridge over Neeli Nallah on Chung Road, Udhampur to one Ghulam Nabi Contractor who appointed complainant as power of attorney for execution of said work and drawal of bills in the month of March 2008. Final bill and cheque amounting Rs 1.20lakh was prepared in the name of contractor Ghulam Nabi. The complainant approached Mohinder Singh, Head Assistant cum Accountant who demanded Rs 10,000 as bribe. On receipt of said complaint, FIR NO 10/2008 was registered in the P/S VOJ on April 17, 2008 and subsequently a raid was conducted the accused was caught red handed while accepting Rs 10,000 as bribe. After completion of the investigation Vigilance organization sought sanction for prosecution of the accused which was accorded today by the Vigilance Wing of the General Administration Department.
