| Mehbooba stressed peace push | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 21: Stressing on the need of initiating sincere efforts to establish sustainable peace in Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti today cautioned against derailing the peace process and reconciliatory policies adopted by the previous PDP led government in Jammu and Kashmir. She said that it was the outcome of the pro-peace policies adopted by the PDP that situation been improved in this state to some extent.
Mufti was addressing a function which was organized to welcome Mohammad Maqbool Bhat in the PDP. Bhat, president District Congress Committee (DCC) Shopian along with large number of his supporters joined PDP in presence Mehbooba Mufti and other senior leaders of the PDP.
Mehbooba said that it was all due to the sincerity and conviction of the PDP leadership that mass base political activists have been coming forward to join this party. "Instead of joining the ruling parties, political leaders, who are aware of the grass root problems, are associating with the PDP to pursue the pro-people agenda", she pointed out and assured the people that her party would strive hard to come up to the expectations of the masses.
"People of Jammu and Kashmir have realized that unlike other politicians, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed is the man of his words", she said and pointed out that it was only during the regime of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed that development and political process went on hand in hand and peace to some extent was resorted in Kashmir. "Through his conviction and sincerity Sayeed has facilitated historic peace process and confidence building initiatives which positively transformed the political discourse not only within the State, but throughout the sub-continent", she observed, adding, "it was only due to visionary policies of PDP that peace started growing manifold and the resolution of the problem seemed reachable,".
While condemning Mumbai attack, Mufti cautioned against derailing peace process as not only the people of Jammu and Kashmir but the whole sub-continent are yearning for sustainable peace and progress. "I am hopeful the political leadership of the two countries would address the issues in good faith and with sincerity of purpose realize the dream of a peaceful, prosperous and progressive South Asia,", she said and added that peace process has become a necessity for two countries and the both the countries should form a joint mechanism to face the challenge of terrorism.
PDP chief, while welcoming Mohammad Maqbool Bhat in the party fold, expressed her gratitude towards people of Pulwama and Shopian for supporting the party in the just concluded assembly election and asserted that PDP has enough strengthen to keep a check on anti-people policies of the NC-Congress coalition.
