REASI, June 29: Dr. Banarsi Lal, Senior Scientist & Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) has been conferred with the prestigious 'Best Scientist Award' during the 12th Science & Technology Awards-2023 ceremony organised recently at Bangalore by the Education Expo TV (EET CRS).The award has been conferred to the scientist in recognisation of his meritorious achievements and remarkable contributions in the agricultural sector. Science & Technology Awards research panel considered Dr. Banarsi for the prestigious Best Scientist Award on the basis of his research papers in reputed journals as first author, books as first author, book chapters as first author, popular and research articles as first author, success stories as first author, case studies as first author, invited talks, consultancy services provided, SHGs/Farmers Clubs managed, research and innovative extension technologies devised and disseminated, promotion of organic and natural farming, various projects handled etc. for the welfare of the farming community. Dr. Banarsi is the Gold Medalist and is an alumnus of Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi. He has also developed an Exponential Communication Model which is an appropriate model to assess the communication behaviour of the farmers and has been recognized at national and international level. Dr. Banarsi hails from Kathua district of J&K and has been working at KVK, Reasi for more than 16 years and upgrading the farming community with the latest agricultural technologies. Dr. Banarsi has written more than 600 publications as research papers in national and international journals, technical bulletins, leaflets, folders, books and book chapters, popular and research articles, success stories/case studies, training manuals, short communications etc. He is also working on ARYA (Attracting and Retaining Youths in Agriculture), TSP (Tribal Sub-Plan), District Agrometrological Units, Natural Farming projects etc. in Reasi distt. Dr. Banarsi is also recipient of many awards of zonal, national and international level. Presently he is an active member of many Professional Societies. |
