| JU officers seeing rivals in students? | | | Early Timea Report Jammu, Jan 21: Prof Varun Sahni, the new Vice Chancellor of the University of Jammu, may be making efforts to maintain order on the Campus but his men and officers are pulling the students as rivals of the Varsity. With the coming of Varun Sahni as the new Vice Chancellor of the University of Jammu a change at the Campus was expected as he underlined his committed to a make it a better research and teaching institute. Have the university authorities made up their mind to treat the students as if they are not an integral part but rivals of the university? Once again the students of the campus witnessed the hostilities of the university authorities when the students of The Law School made a request before the director of the institution for shifting their examination timings to 1 PM to 4 PM instead of 10 AM to 1 PM on certain grounds. The students made the request taking the ground for convenience of the students as many of them have to come from far off places and that too on public transport and more so the examinations have been conducted during the evening shift during the past five years.. Reacting on the request the director of the institution declared that the examination timings cannot be shifted to the evening shift as it is inconvenient for the faculty and also as it is a step to maintain discipline in the department. The students urged before the director to consider the convenience of the students who have to appear in the examination and have to come from distant areas on public transport prior to the convenience of the faculty but of no use they where shown the way out of the chamber. After the reaction of the director the students failed to understand that whether they are considered as the students of the department or as some foe of the university on whom the authorities want to force any of their decision in the name of discipline. Is the university really for students?
