| Air sorties for snowbound areas | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, JAN 21: In a move that will bring succour to the people residing in far-flung and snowbound areas of Kishtwar district, the Government is operating weekly helicopter flights from Kishtwar to Dachhan, Marwah and Warwan from tomorrow. The air service will provide connectivity to the people in these areas who remain cut off from the rest of the world due to heavy snowfall in winters. The Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah had recently asked the administration to work out modalities for providing connectivity to the people of snowbound areas. The decision to operate air service to the far-flung areas of Kishtwar district is a sequel to his direction. The Minister for Industries and Commerce, Labour and Employment, Mr. Surjit Singh Slathia, will formally flag off the inaugural sortie tomorrow. The interested passengers will be required to deposit Rs.1,000/- in the treasury for availing tickets. They will also be allowed to carry 20-kg luggage free of cost. The weekly helicopter sorties to these areas will be operated through the district administration, Kishtwar.
