| Slathia lands chopper service in remote Marwah | | | Early Times Report KISHTWAR, JANUARY 22 – Minister for Industries & Commerce, Labour and Employment, Mr. Surjit Singh Slathia flagged off the inaugural weekly helicopter flight to Nawapachi and Inshan from here at an impressive function today. As the first sortie took off from helipad today amidst jubilation by locals, the long-pending demand of the people residing in far-flung and snowbound areas of the district have been met. MLA, Kishtwar, Mr. Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Mr. Sudhanshu Pandey, District Development Commissioner, Kishtwar, Mr. Sudershan Sharma, police and army officers, besides a large number of people were present on the occasion. The first sortie, carrying 19 passengers, left Kishtwar for Nawapachi at 10 a.m. and returned with 25 passengers. Later, two more sorties were made for Nawapachi and Inshan carrying 40 passengers while 25 passengers were brought to Kishtwar. Slathia also boarded a sortie and visited Inshan, Nawapachi and Sounder Dachhan areas of the district. Addressing a series of public meetings, the Minister said that Government is committed to annihilate distances and starting air-service to snowbound areas in winter was one of the priorities of the Chief Minister, adding that other developmental demands of the remote areas will also be looked into. He said the Government is committed to all-round and equitable development of all the three regions of the State and all steps will be taken to improve rural-urban connectivity. While addressing a large number of people at Inshan and Nawapachi, the Minister assured to organize special police recruitment drive for local unemployed educated youth at all the three block headquarters of tehsil Marwah. He also said that establishment of an ITI at Sounder Dachhan will also be considered. He also distributed solar-lights among the left-out 500 families and directed the concerned authorities to make functional all the Community Information Centres of Rural Development Block within a month. He issued instructions to Forest authorities to immediately repair the damaged Bridal path from Sounder to Keber Nallah, in Dachhan area so that people do not face any inconvenience. Referring to the power problem to Dachhan area, the Minister assured to take up the matter with the Chief Engineer, PDD, Jammu. He also said he will take up the issue of shortage of doctors and paramedical staff in the area by discussing the matter with the Health Minister.
