| RTO Office raid case | | Court extends police remand of the accused till Jan 24 | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 22- Special Judge Anticorruption, Jammu, BL Bhat today extended remand to police custody of accused namely Ashok Kumar Sachdeva, Daya Kumar, S Jagjit Singh, Deepak Sharma, Avtar Singh, Tarlochan Singh, Jugal Kishore and Diwakar Singh, involved in RTO office raid case, till January 24, 2009. Crime Branch today produced all the accused in court in custody with application seeking extension of remand to police custody for a further period of three days. Allegedly some employees of RTO Office Jammu in connivance with agents have been running a racket for issuance of fake driving licenses and registration certificate and have also misappropriate fee and other dues recoverable as fee. The investigation is in progress. While extending the remand Special Judge Anticorruption observed that it appears that the documents seized during investigation are under examination and custodial interrogation of accused warranted for further period to enable the Investigation Officer to conclude the investigation. The bail plea of the accused had already been rejected. Allegation of commission of non-bailable offences of serious nature is subject of probe. The accused are remanded to police custody till January 24, 2009. They shall be produced before competent court on January 24, 2009 for appropriate orders, the Special Judge ordered. JNF
