Let young CM deliver
1/22/2009 10:42:41 PM

Shafi Dar Razvi

Rome was not build in a day is an old but a good dictum. Human nature in present scenario has become such an impatient that every one expects that his all the desires be fulfilled in a single day. As soon as the new coalition government has taken over the rein of Jammu and Kashmir State various sections of the society has started pronouncing different theories with different angles with negative bent of mind regarding its functioning.
Some critics are said to have been speculating that the young Chief Minister (Chhokra) is an immature person and the elders (Council of Ministers) will play their tricky games creating many hurdles in his dynamic way of working. Some say that from the dawn of the first day as Chief Minister he has started “Uchhal Kood” like his father who was enjoying with film actresses in Mughal Garden and clubs despite of the facts that he was at the help of affairs. The difference is that the younger Abdullah is strolling with his wife, children and giant political advisor. Various sections of people argue that instead of inspecting Police Diaries (Roznamcha) which is the job of our talented police officers, he should have inspected some ongoing development works like bridges, roads or ration depots and Social Welfare centres where the ration, pension meant for the widows, orphans and old age persons is siphoned off. He must inspect some office in the Civil Sectt. which is said to be the white elephants where the avenues of corruption are generated, where the peon on duty does not allow any needy to meet any officers or ministers with the pretext that “Sahib meeting Kar rahee hai, Ander jane ke ajazat naheen hai” and when his palm is greased with a currency note or a packet of cigarette, the needy is gladly permitted to meet the Sahib.
Although the minds of people are not so rusted as yet, that they should forget the rampant corruption of previous coalition government which was thrust on the administration from the top to the bottom from ministerial secretariat to field, which has denounced our Jammu and Kashmir state with such a magnitude that the state was adjudged as Number Two in the country. Some other critics say that the Emerging Chief Minister must see in his own sleeves before further rhetoric that what is happening in the Secretariat during day-to-day business. Certainly people believe that none of the Angels is sitting in the Civil Secretariat where lakhs of rupees are given as bribe for converting the word “Not approved” in to “Note approved”. The people have series of such records regarding many sycophant officers in the Secretariat who are revolving around the chairs of Ministers and have accumulated huge wealth in connivance with the Ministers and not only this but have also forged their Date of Births on their service books despite of the facts that the month of May, 2007 was granted as an Amnesty Month by the GAD for providing them a chance to correct their Date of Births but many of them did not pay any heed towards their deceitful nature as yet.
It would be the great achievement of Mr. Young Abdullah if he will succeed in changing the obnoxious habits of some of the heads of the Administrative Department who give a big bid for changing the seniority lists of the talented officers/ officials paving a way for them to nock at the door of Hon’ble High Court and Supreme Court or providing them a chance to hold the gun for their legitimate rights. Although the people of Jammu and Kashmir know that Mr. Omar Abdullah has caught an opportunity to become a Chief Minister of the state by virtue of Congress party patronage from New Delhi and also availed the fruit of friendship with Mr. Rahul Gandhi. Yet the Centre is very clever and have already calculated their provident that on the one side the Parliamentary general elections are drawing near and on the other side there is an increasing threat of internal as well as external militancy, the Congress in the Centre needs a Biant Singh who must crush the smouldering revolutionary movement in the state. Thus the people are desperately thinking that no drastic change can be expected in the state. The shadow of confusion and chaos and clash of interests among Congress and National Conference Ministers is looming large as it has been experienced soon after the oath of Cabinet Ministers on January 5th, 2009. Every Minister rushed to New Delhi for getting lucrative portfolios.
Keeping all the criticism aside the people of Jammu and Kashmir want to extend their whole-hearted cooperation to the young Chief Minister for addressing the miseries and agonies of past 20 years of turmoil, provided the Chief Minister believes in workdone and not marely in rhetoric. Unlike his father who is famous for his double speak, the young Abdullah must see through the spectrum of reality because Jammu and Kashmir state is on a volcano and a single slip of tongue can bring a havoc for this sub-continent. Let everybody should give ample time to young Abdullah for tackling the manifold problems such as unemployment, militancy, corruption, poverty, illiteracy and dearness. Hopefully, the chief Minister will give a chance to a team of dedicated and honest officers for resolving the problems of the people and make them accountable before the public. Let him keep the sycophants officials away from his Ministers who are the harbingers of all evils in the Civil Sectt. The Chief Minister is expected to exercise his worth and talent since he has performed as MoS External Affairs in the Centre government.
Since the royal blood runs in his veins and he must take some revolutionary steps like his grant father Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah for bringing a radical change in the state. It is hoped that he will take into confidence the Hurriyat Conference and leaders of migrant Pandits for an acceptable solutions of the burning problems. If one thinks that without mitigating the problems of Migrant Pandits and without listening Hurriyat Conference, one will bring peace and stability in the state, it will be deemed that he is living in a fools paradise. Truly speaking gone are the days when the former Prime Minister Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad was issuing appointment orders on Cigrettee packets but it is very difficult in the present state of affairs to do so since the state is in the grip of turmoil and youths of the state are the most sufferers who needs to be given a healing touch. The Young Chief Minister must take some revolutionary steps to address the problems of the public and provide a uniform respite to all the regions of the state. It is also hoped that the CM will keep a vigilant eye on the misdeeds of his tainted ministers, whose past remained very bleak and should not prove to be a puppet in their hands.
All the youth of the state are with the young Chief Minister provided he respects the sentiments and aspirations of the youth. It obviously will take some time so every body should think positive and hope for the best. Let everybody should see which way the wind blows and we must wait and watch young Chief Minister like this couplet.
