Jammu, Jan 22: The National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah today said that his party was yet to decide on electoral alliance for upcoming Lok Sabha elections but would to discuss issue with the alliance partner Congress. Dr Abdullah today chaired a meeting of party leaders at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan which was attended by all those candidates who lost the recent assembly elections. Speaking to the media persons after meeting, Dr Abdullah said that they are meeting to discuss the Lok Sabha elections and most important issue of fighting polls in alliance with the Congress party or on its own. Explaining it further, Dr Abdullah said that National Conference is willing to talk to Congress high command before taking the final decision on contesting the polls. "We will first discuss the issue in the party and then we will talk to the Congress party to stitch any coalition for the Lok Sabha polls as well". He, however, clarified that no final decision has been taken as of today. On the occasion, Dr Abdullah also raised the issue of redrawing of boundaries of newly formed districts in the state to suit the needs of the local population. Pointing certain irregularities, he gave an example of Ramban district and said there are certain villages which are located not far away from the district headquarters but still they fall under Doda district which is over 30 km away. We have to look in to these complaints to address concerns of the people, Dr Abdullah said. On the question of relations with Pakistan Dr Abdullah said that ‘We want friendly ties between India and Pakistan and eagerly awaiting formation of new government in New Delhi to carry forward the agenda of peace talks’. ‘No one is benefited from fighting wars and spreading hatred and terror’, Dr Abdullah said the people of Jammu and Kashmir want to live in peace and harmony as they are the worst sufferers in the event of any hostilities breaking out between the two neighboring countries. He said the state government would also facilitate dialogue between the separatists and the centre.
