| IGP holds public liaison meeting | | Solicits public cooperation for surrender policy at Handwara | | Srinagar, September 19: Inspector General of Police (Kashmir) SM.Sahai during a surprise visit to Handwara township held a meeting with senior citizens which was among others attended by SP Handwara Dr Haseeb Mughal, SDPO Handwara, Dy.S.P (DAR). Divulging details about the meeting, Inspector General of Police (Kashmir) S.M.Sahai, according to KNS Correspondent, impressed upon the senior citizens to persuade militants to give up violence by taking the advantage of Government's surrender policy. Saying that youth were misled 17 years back and took up the gun, but now youth can't be misled and after next two year some misconceptions will get removed, Sahai claimed that Government does not want to fight militants bodily, but the real war is waged against their mind set and parent of youth are duty bound to remove misconceptions from the minds of their youth. Claiming a decline in militancy related incidents, Sahai said that no major violence related incident has taken place in Srinagar during last two months and ruled out the collapse of militancy network without the involvement of the people at large. Announcing recruitment in police department for those who want to fight militancy, Sahai impressed upon the parent to keep a strong vigil on their youth in view of the past experiences, as most of the youth, according to him, used to work as upper ground militants during the early phase of militancy in the state. He promised efforts for persuading army to show flexibility in the movement of troopers during the forthcoming holly month of Ramadan. |
