| Bishnah elections | | HC: supply attested copies of documents | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 23- Disposing of a petition filed by 20 persons claiming to be the voters of Bishnah constituency seeking direction to the respondents to issue the records regarding polling of the Bishnah constituency, the Vacation Judge of J&K High Court Jammu Wing Justice Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain today directed Chief Electoral Officer J&K and Returning Officer (DC Jammu) to make available the record or attested copies of the documents mentioned in the petition under rules within a period of one week. The petitioners in their petition alleged that in the recently held elections to the Bishnah seat there had been large scale bogus polling in the whole constituency so much so in some polling stations the votes of dead voters were polled. They further alleged in the petition that there are allegations of irregularities committed by the election agency in connivance with elected candidate of the said constituency. The petitioners also alleged that the winning candidate being a retired professor and his wife also a serving professor in education department managed to get deputed majority of the polling staff from education department with ulterior motives. The majority of election staff was from Bishnah constituency who were on the forefront during the campaigning of the winning candidates. The petitioners prayed before the Court for issuance of directions to the respondents to issue certified/ attested copies of Form 17-A (Register of turn out of voters) of Bishnah constituency No 74 and also Form 17-C (containing the total turn out of male and female voters), Dairy of the Presiding Officers of all the polling booths and report of the counting of each round given by the Returning Officer to the media and the detail of change of EVM, if any during the election process. Court in view of the relief prayed by the petitioners directed the respondents for issuance of attested copies of the documents mentioned in the petition under rules within a period of one week and disposed of this petition at this very stage.
