Jammu, Jan 23- Airtel, India’s leading telecom services provider, today announced the launch of EDGE, the next generation high speed data network on Airtel. The launch of the high speed EDGE network will enable 1.5 million Airtel Jammu and Kashmir customers to access the internet services using their existing mobile connection and enable them to enjoy the best of innovative data services.
Announcing the launch, Vishal Sehgal, COO, Bharti Airtel J&K, said,” this endeavor is in line with the objective of the company to bring in the latest technology at the doorsteps of the common man in Jammu and Kashmir.
The all-in-one Internet service gives Airtel customers easy access to simple and powerful web applications through their data enabled handsets without having to invest in data cards. Now Airtel customers can access internet on laptops and computers with the existing data enabled handsets. All Airtel Prepaid customers can activate the facility by dialing *567*1# (Toll Free), while as Postpaid customers can call 121 or visit their nearest Airtel Relationship Center for activation of the services.
The internet facility has been extended through wide range of customized plans. Airtel customers can choose from the plans as per the usage requirement. The Postpaid customers can enjoy the service by choosing from plans of Rs 49, Rs 249, Rs 599, besides the Rs 999 plan for unlimited usage. The Prepaid customers can enjoy the services at a tariff of 20 Paisa/50 KB at zero monthly rentals.
To complete the data offerings portfolio, Airtel also announced the launch of its high speed EDGE enabled Data Card. The customers can also enjoy uninterrupted internet services though a data card by inserting it in a laptop/computer. The data card works on GPRS/EDGE and gives anytime anywhere connectivity through internet wirelessly. As an introductory offer, the Airtel Data Card comes with a free 2 GB USB drive.
