| Health Minister for strict measures against absentees | | | Early Times Report
Jammu January 23 – The Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma paid a surprise visit to Sub-District Hospital Marh today and found most of the doctors and other staff members absent from duty. Expressing deep concern on the careless attitude of the staff, the Minister directed on-the-spot imposition of fine to the absentees with a warning to remain careful in future. However, Minister ordered attachment of Block Medical Officer, Suhanjana for his administrative lapse with Health and Medical Education Department till further orders. Subsequently Mr Sharma visited Primary Health Centre, Kana Chak and was pleased to observe that all the staff members of the centre were present and sanitary condition of the hospital was found satisfactory. Mr. Sharma appreciated the working of PHC under the supervision of Incharge, Medical Officer. Later, the Minister convened a meeting of high level officers here today to discuss the details of infrastructure of health department, being proposed for funding under the Prime Minister's Reconstruction Programme. The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education Mr Atul Dulloo, Director Health Services Jammu Dr. Jasbir Singh and Director Family Welfare Jammu Dr. Kalbushan Pandotra. The Minister was informed that funds for new projects and expansion programme for ongoing schemes are estimated to the tune of Rs 1955 crore. The Minister after threadbare discussion with the officers on the project proposals directed them to expedite finalization and submission of proposals to the Central Government as soon as possible.
