| Police Public Mela at Jammu on Feb- 8 | | Khoda gives final touch to arrangements | | Early Times Report
Jammu, January 23- Arrangements for one-day Police Public Mela to be held at Police Sports Stadium Gulshan Ground, here on February 8, 2009 were finalized at a high level meeting at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today under the chairmanship of Director General of Police, Mr. Kuldeep Khoda. The mela is being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police Wives Welfare Association. Addressing the meeting, the Director General of Police stressed upon all members of the organizing committee for coordinating efforts to make the mega event a grand success. The Director General of Police issued on spot instructions to open two additional sale counters of raffle draw tickets at Tourist Police Station, TRC and outside PCR in Srinagar for general public. Threadbare discussion was held in the meeting with regard to security arrangements in and around the venue, availability of drinking water, power supply, as well as regulation of traffic and parking arrangements for the visitors. It was decided that various police welfare establishments and some voluntary organizations representing all the regions of the state would participate in the Mela and set up their stalls to display their products for exhibition and sale purposes for the general public on concessional rates. The Mela to be inaugurated at 10 a.m will be open for the general public. Giving the details, Mr. Khoda said that this year the department has decided to enhance the number of prizes from 3,352 to 4,509 for the first time for general masses who had shown their interest in participation in previous Melas. Star Car) 4th Prize(Three Maruti 800) 5th Prize (Four Motor Cycles) 6th Prize(one i-Phone) 7th Prize (Ttwo 32” LCD TV) 8th Prize (Two Computer Laptops) 9th Prize (Two Computer Desktops) 10th Prize (Four Sony Handicam Cameras) 11th Prize (Four Washing Machine-Auto) 12th (Four AC. 8 ton) 13th Prize (Four CTVs 21”) 14th Prize (Four Mobile Phones Nokia-6300) 15th Prize (Four Mobile Phones) 16th Prize (Four Micro Wave Oven) 17th Prize (Four Vacuum Cleaner) 18th Prize (Four Mixer/ Grinder/ Juicer) 19th Prize (Four Gas Chullas) 20th Prize (Four Mobile Phones) 21st Prize (Four Dinner Sets) 22nd Prize (Four Sand-witch Maker) 23rd Prize(Rs1000/-each for 40 ticket holders) 24th Prize (Rs.500/-each for 400 ticket holders) and 25th Prize(Rs.100/-each for 4000 ticket holders) Elaborating the main objectives of the Mela, Mr. Khoda disclosed that the other highlights of the mela would be Raffle Draw, Lucky Dip, Tambola, Kashmiri Embroidery, Ladakh Crafts, Phulkari Work, Target Shooting,Mehandi, Walnut & Willow Furniture, Basholi Paintings, Delicious Snacks, Rides & Jhulas, Cultural Entertainment programmes and other attractive games. The Director General of Police said that raffle draw for fabulous prizes would be conducted at 4 p.m. on the mela day and small children and elders from the audience present on the occasion will draw the raffle draw numbers for prizes of different categories which would be handed over to the prize winners on-the-spot on production of original raffle draw tickets. Among others the meeting was attended by the Director General of Police, CID Dr.Ashok Bhan, Inspectors General of Police, Mr. K. Rajendra, Mr. Ram Lubhaya, Dr. S.P. Vaid, Mr. M. A. Shah, Mr. M.A.Anjum and Mr. Ashok Gupta, DIG Jammu Mr. A. Q Manhas, Director Telecom, Mr. Bhupinder Singh, AIG(Provision) PHQ, Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari, AIG (Welfare) PHQ, Dr. S.P.
