| KAS officers climb down | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 23: As employees gear up for a strike on pay hike issue by the beginning of coming week, the association of Kashmir Administrative Services officers has mellowed down from its earlier stance and appealed the employees’ fraternity to giver government time to address the issue. The KAS association climbed down from its stand after a meeting with the Finance Minister last evening. Not only the KAS officer has expressed its faith in government initiatives, it has also appealed other associations and union of employees to put off their strike scheduled for January 27 and 28. The Association, its spokesman said, believes that Sixth pay commission report which has been already finalized by the high level committee of Government headed by S L Bhat Finance Commissioner Planning and duly approved by the Governor NN Vohra may be implemented in letter and sprit. The report includes enhancement of superannuation of age limit of all services functioning in J&K State. This positive development has strengthened the confidence of all the Gazetted officers of the state particularly all the members of the KAS fraternity. The Chief Minister in his first press conference had also assured that the report will be given positive consideration, which was appreciated by all gazetted and non Gazetted employees. The Association is of the view that since popular government has taken over recently, therefore all the non Gazetted and gazetted employees unanimously decide to provide full cooperation to the Government for its complete success and enable it to implement SL Bhat’s report as soon as possible. The assurance of Finance Minister to KAS association representatives and other Non gazetted Associations of JCC to deliberate the issue in the next Cabinet meeting is a significant achievement of yesterday's meeting, therefore the Association is fully confident that the present popular Government will fulfill its assurances .The Association shall accordingly take all positive steps to avoid any confrontation between the popular Government and its employees and work for strengthening amicable relationship with each other. The Association appeals the Government to take up the matter seriously and resolve it in the first week of February as per its commitments and assurances, in the best interest of the employees. The Association also believes that it will be in the best interest of the employees to give time to the Government for positive consideration of the report with regard to 6th pay commission and enhancement of superannuation age. Association appeals all the Non Gazetted employees to reconsider the Hartal call of January 28 in the best interest of the employees and emphasized for creation of cordial and amicable relationship between Government and employees so that people do not also suffer in sequel to un necessarily confrontation. They said that the fulfillment of assurances made by Finance minister will be keenly watched as present Government genuinely require some time for fulfillment of the same.
