| Interacts with Air Force officers, their families | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, JANUARY 24 - Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah visited Air Force Station here today and interacted with the officers and their families.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister lauded the role of the Air Force, especially during the natural calamities, in providing succour to the people by launching rescue and relief operations. "Whenever there is any natural calamity or road accidents, we turn to you for helping the affected people by rushing relief material, medicines, essential commodities or shifting the injured for treatment", he told the Air Force officers.
Referring to the just-concluded Assembly elections in the State, Mr. Abdullah said that the Air Force played an appreciable role during run-up to the elections by airlifting poll personnel and election material to the far-flung and inaccessible areas and expressed his gratitude to the Air Force for the purpose. He said that the Air Force has been doing an excellent work to help the civilian population in the hour of need.
The Station Commander, Indian Air Force, Group Captain V. Prakash, while welcoming Mr. Abdullah, said that the Air Force officers were keen to interact with the youngest Chief Minister of the State.
The Chief Minister also visited the Air Force Museum and signed the Visitors' Book. The Chief Minister was also presented a memento on the occasion.
Mr. Abdullah also had tea with the officers and their families and posed for photographs with them.
Political Advisor to the Chief Minister, Mr. Devender Singh Rana and Director, Civil Aviation, Mr. S. Katoch were also present on the occasion.
