DC discusses arrangements for Independence Day celebrations

KATHUA, July 25: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rakesh Minhas today chaired a meeting of officers to discuss arrangements for the celebration of Independence Day-2023.
The meeting decided that the main function of the National Day will be held at Sports Stadium, Kathua, where the VIP will unfurl the National Flag and take salute from March Past contingents comprising of Police, Army, Para Military forces, Forest, NCC, platoons of Schools, Colleges besides bands of PTS and Army.
The DC directed Manager Sports Stadium Kathua and XEN PWD to undertake the renovation works besides arranging logistics for smooth and successful hosting of the mega event at district headquarters.
The meeting held detailed deliberations on sequencing of events wherein it was given out that the celebrations will start with playing of Shehnai Vadan by the Information Department in the wee hours at the Deputy Commissioner Office and SSP Office Kathua.
The DC directed the concerned departments to ensure all the arrangements related to security, sanitation, seating, barricading, drinking water supply, uninterrupted electricity, prize distribution, invitation cards, transportation and illumination of important buildings on the Independence Day.
Regarding presentation of cultural programmes, the DC directed CEO Kathua to shortlist best cultural items involving a pool of school and college students depicting colourful cultural diversity of India.
The DC also emphasized on ensuring cleanliness, illumination of offices, carrying out plantation drives besides flag hoisting in all the government establishments to celebrate the nation in a befitting manner.
The DC exhorted the officers to complete all preparations well in advance so that national function could be celebrated with traditional fervor.
SSP Kathua, Shivdeep Singh Jamwal, ADC Ranjeet Singh, CPO Uttam Singh, District Officers of different departments were also present on the occasion.
