| GCOE Jammu coommemorates Kargil Vijay Diwas | | |  Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 26: The NSS unit of GCOE Jammu today commemorated Kargil Vijay Diwas in its college campus. The principal of the institution, Prof Aekta Gupta paid floral tributes to the martyred Kargil war heroes and exhorted the students to always remember the sacrifice made by the soldiers of the Indian Army. She also added that as a citizen we always need to recall the remarkable bravery and valor shown by our Indian soldiers during the Kargil war. Students of the college sang patriotic songs on the occasion. In the second session of the program, documentaries based on Kargil War heroes were screened for the students. Faculty members also highlighted the contribution of Capt Vikram Batra, Capt Manoj Pandey, Grenadier Yogendra Singh, Capt Jintu Gogoi, Lieutenant Balwan Singh and Naik Brij Mohan Singh.
Later in the afternoon session, the Principal also flagged off a team of fifty NSS Volunteers to Pali Village for mega plantation drive which is being done in collaboration with AYUSH, Directorate of J&K. The drive is conducted to pay homage to the soldiers who made supreme sacrifice for the nation. Pali village is adopted by the college and AYUSH department. The NSS volunteers dedicated plants in the name of the Kargil War heroes. All the events pertaining to Van Mahotsav celebration were also dedicated to the Kargil heroes.
In the Pali village, the NSS Volunteers also interacted with village Sarpanch Ranbir Sharma, Panch Anil Kumar and other villagers. Dr Arun Gupta and Dr Aftab Iqbal from AYUSH Department apprised the students about various important medicinal plants besides they were also apprised plant based on the nine planets. Dr Rajinder Kour and Dr Shubhra Jamwal, NSS PO of the college convened the field visit of the students to Pali village. |
