HIMACHAL PRADESH, July 27: NHPC's 500 MW Dugar Hydroelectric Project, situated in the serene landscapes of Pangi valley, Himachal Pradesh, has taken a significant step towards empowering local development with the release of the 1st installment of the Local Area Development Fund (LADF) amounting to Rs 14.95 Crore to the Himachal Pradesh State Government. The infusion of funds marks the beginning of a new era of progress in the remote Pangi Tehsil.
The agreement for the implementation of the Dugar Hydroelectric Project was inked between the Government of Himachal Pradesh and NHPC on August 26, 2022. Nestled along the banks of the majestic river Chenab, the project adopts a run-of-the-river scheme and is strategically located in Luj Village, Killar town, in the picturesque Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh.
With a remarkable design energy output of 1759.85 Million Units of Energy in a 90% dependable year, the Dugar Hydroelectric Project promises to be an essential source of sustainable power generation for the region.
The release of the initial installment of the LADF is expected to catalyze various developmental activities in the region. The fund will be utilized for initiatives that enhance the quality of life for the local communities, promote infrastructure development, boost education and healthcare facilities, and foster overall socio-economic progress in the remote and hilly terrain of Pangi Tehsil.
NHPC's commitment to responsible and inclusive development remains at the core of the project's vision, and the LADF is a testament to the organization's dedication to uplifting the communities in the project's vicinity.
As the Dugar Hydroelectric Project continues to make strides towards harnessing clean energy potential, it also strives to be a catalyst for sustainable growth, ensuring a brighter and greener future for Himachal Pradesh and its people
