KVK holds live telecast on PM-KISAN scheme | | | Early Times Report REASI, July 27: Reasi District, Jammu and Kashmir: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi, operating under the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies Jammu (SKUAST-J), successfully organized a live telecast programme on the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme at Gunn village in Reasi District. The event witnessed a large number of women farmers actively participating and learning about the flagship scheme of India. The programme was executed under the dynamic leadership of Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. BN Tripathi, and received able guidance from Director Extension, Prof. SK Gupta of SKUAST-J. Before commencing the programme, Dr. Banarsi Lal, Senior Scientist, and Head of KVK, Reasi, briefed the attendees about the objective of the programme and provided an in-depth explanation of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme. The PM-KISAN scheme aims to extend financial support to farmers by providing them Rs. 6000 in three installments. This assistance enables farmers to purchase high-quality seeds, fertilizers, and other agricultural inputs, ultimately boosting crop production. Dr. Banarsi Lal encouraged farmers to view the live telecast show on PM-KISAN to gain comprehensive information about the scheme. During the programme, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, released the 14th installment of the PM-KISAN scheme and inaugurated PM Kisan Samridhi Kendras in Nagaur, Rajasthan. These Kendras are expected to play a crucial role in advancing farmers' prosperity. Additionally, Hon'ble Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of millets cultivation and the branding of millets as "Shree Anna." Union Agriculture Minister, Narinder Singh Tomar, also spoke on the PM-KISAN scheme and highlighted the significance of PM Kisan Samridhi Kendras for farmers' prosperity. Dr. Banarsi Lal further educated farmers about other agricultural schemes and emphasized the importance of scientific agriculture during the Kharif season. He advocated for organic and natural farming methods to ensure the production of safe food and higher returns. Dr. Banarsi Lal also stressed the significance of cluster-based approaches and discussed the formation of Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Farmers Producer Organizations (FPOs). During the programme, various other experts also shared valuable insights. Dr. Suja Nabi Qureshi, Scientist, discussed advanced horticulture techniques to enhance farmers' income and guided them on effective farm management practices. Dr. Arvinder Kumar provided valuable information on commercial farming and crop management practices.
