JAMMU, July 27: The Department of Telecommunication, Licensed Service Area (LSA) J&K, Jammu, in collaboration with Art of Living, organized the 'Har Ghar Dhyan' workshop at Art of Living Gyan Mandir Temple of Knowledge, Adarsh Enclave, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, J&K. The workshop, held under the patronage of Deputy Director General (I.T.S) Arun Agarwal and supervision of Assistance Director of DOT (LSA) Vijay Kumar, saw the active participation of scores of senior officials and staff. The Union Ministry of Culture has partnered with Art of Living to spread awareness about mental health and empower individuals, especially the youth, with meditation for better health. Launched on October 26, 2022, at the international headquarters of Art of Living in Bangalore, the project has conducted more than 12,000 meditation sessions across the country. The Art of Living Foundation, a volunteer-based, humanitarian, and educational non-governmental organization (NGO), operates in 180 countries and was founded in 1981 by Guru dev Shri Shri Ravi Shankar. The workshop was conducted under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, focusing on empowering the youth for better health and creating a more resilient future for the nation.
The 'Har Ghar Dhyan' meditation session was graced by Deputy Director General I.T.S, Arun Agarwal, and resource persons Ajay Kapoor, State Coordinator of Art of Living-Bureau of Communications and Projects, and Shakti Sagar, senior faculty and DTC, both from The Art of Living Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh. The event was also attended by Mr. Sudarshan Sudan, DGM (Admin) BSNL, along with senior officials from DOT and BSNL.
During the workshop, Vijay Kumar, Assistance Director of DOT, delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the importance of such sessions and practices for everyone. He highlighted upcoming programs in DOT and the need for stress management among senior officials and staff, especially in the onset of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Resource person Shakti Sagar beautifully explained how incorporating meditation, pranayama, and stress-relieving kriyas can boost immunity, relieve stress, anxiety, depression, and improve concentration and communication skills. He conducted pranayama and short yet powerful meditation sessions for the participants, leaving them feeling relaxed and positive. Ajay Kapoor, in the concluding session, highlighted the natural effects of meditation, such as calmness of mind, increased stamina, healing powers, relaxation, rejuvenation, and improved sleep quality.
The workshop also featured a Q&A session for participants, allowing them to seek clarifications and gain deeper insights into meditation practices.
In his vote of thanks, Arun Agarwal expressed his gratitude to all the senior officials and staff of DOT and BSNL, Ajay Kapoor, and Shakti Sagar. As a token of appreciation, planters were presented to Ajay Kapoor and Shakti Sagar. Arun Agarwal expressed the commitment to continue the association with Art of Living for happiness workshops, promoting the well-being of DOT and BSNL officials.
