| HC issues notice in DOB controversy for CEC | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 24- Vacation Judge of J&K High Court Jammu Wing Justice Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain today directed Registrar Judicial to serve the notice on Respondents State through Chief Secretary, Commissioner/Secretary GAD, Chairman and Secretary Public Service Commission within two days for filling objections on next date of hearing and list the case next week. This direction was passed in a petition challenging the notification issued by the PSC on December 30, 2008 inviting application for examination of J&K Combined Competitive Examination in which the age limit for the candidates has been fixed as 21 years as on January 1, 2008. Advocate Vinod Kotwal appearing for the petitioners prayed before the Court for issuance a direction to the respondents to issue a corrigendum prescribing that lower age limit of 21 years on the last date of receipt of application forms which is February 16, 2009. Upon this Vacation Judge issued notice to respondents to filling objections. The petitioners are challenging the notification issued by PSC on December 30, 2008 inviting applications for &K Combined Competitive Examination 2009 from permanent residents of State who hold bachelor degree in any subject from a recognized university and fixed the age as 21 years as on January 1, 2008. Petitioners have completed age of 21 years but subsequent to the prescribed date January 1, 2008 as such they are not in a position to compete in the selection process despite their qualifications. Feeling aggrieved challenged the impugned notification on the ground that petitioners No 1 to 6 have attained the age of 21 years at the time of issuance of impugned notification and all are holding Bachelor Degree.
