| Yasin to give new look to Peoples Democratic Front | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Jan 25- The Peoples' Democratic Front, led by Hakeem Mohammed.Yasin, has decided to restructure the Front right from the district to the provincial cadre. For carrying out smooth reorganization the existing units have been disbanded. Yasin today said that "I plan to broad base the Front so as to make it a major political force in the state.” In reply to a question he said that "we are trying to form a third front and once we succeed the Peoples' Democratic Front will be part of the third front." Soon after the 2002 Assembly election, the Front had 13 members in the Assembly. After the Front witnessed a split it lost teeth, Yasin alone had been able to get re-elected to the Assembly. Aware of the erosion the Front has suffered, Yasin has decided to induct influential political activists, belonging to different parties, in the Front. He said "I am on the job of reconstituting the Front and within one week the Front will be born with a new face." In reply to a question he said he would continue to support the Congress-National Conference ruling alliance. Asked whether he had a chance to get berth in the cabinet Yasin said "it is up to the Congress and the Chief Minister.” He said that both the Congress and the National Conference leadership is fully aware of” my performance as the Transport Minister during the last five years and if the leaders of the two parties find that my inclusion in the cabinet will be in the interest of the Government I am ready for shouldering the responsibility." |
