| Chandan to participate in Trans- boundary Water Management training prog | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Jan 25-Pankaj Chandan, son of the soil and Project Manager, WWF-India, has been selected to participate in the prestigious "Advanced International Training Program in Trans- boundary Water Management". The training program will be held in Mozambique in South Africa and in Sweden in Europe over a period of six months. The Training program is being jointly organized by Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) and Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA). The funding for the course is being provided by SIDA. The meeting in Mozambique and Swaziland is being organized in close collaboration with the African Centre for Water Research (ACWR), in South Africa and DNA, in Mozambique and KOBWA, in Swaziland. The program will be held in Mozambique and Swaziland from March 23rd to April 3rd, 2009 and then in Stockholm, Sweden from June 7th to 12th, 2009. Chandan who hails from border district of Rajouri in Jammu province, has been managing WWF-India's High Altitude Wetland Conservation project in the states of J&K, Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Sikkim and Arunachal. Besides, he is also responsible for the implementation of a regional project on Black-necked Crane in India, China and Bhutan. For this training program based on selection process, 30 participants have been selected from across the Globe. Currently all these participants are actively engaged in Trans boundary water management issues. The training program will provide the participants the practical knowledge and improved understanding of the legal, practical, environmental, financial and political issues related to the water management issues between two or more countries. |
