| Jora inspects various dev schemes in Khaltsi | | | Leh, September 19 – Minister for Power, Industries and Commerce Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora during his 2-day tour to Khaltsi block inspected various developmental schemes here today. At Alchi, the Minister was informed that Rs 29 lakh has been released for creation of infrastructure in Alchi under Model village scheme. Of this, Rs 10 lakh have been spent so far. The Minister said that present government has vowed for providing a clean governance to the people with accountability and transparency, and stressed for ensuring quality results in respect of development. He urged upon the implementing agencies to maintain accountability and transparency. Commenting on Education, Mr. Jora said that qualities of education at higher stage is the prime need in present day world and government has taken several concrete measures by upgrading various schools. The need of the hour, he said, is to take optimum advantage from these institutions by sharing equal responsibility by the education department, teaching staff, parents and the students. Several deputations also met the Minister at various places and submitted memorandums highlighting various demands. The Minister assured them to fulfill all their genuine demands in phased manner. At Saspol, the people demanded for posting of local senior officer on the post of Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Khaltsi. The Minister was informed that Rs 37.39 lakh has been allocated for Panchayats in Khaltsi block under SGRY for the current year. Rs 34 lakh have been released for 40 works under panchayat development programme in the block where under community works like community halls, foot bridges, footpath, school building, health centre building, ration store, water reservoirs, irrigation khuls etc. are carrying out presently. Out of the estimated allocation of Rs 29 lakh under BADP, Rs 23.35 lakh has so far been released for different minor works for Khaltsi block. At Likir, the Minister inspected the restoration work on various development works, which was damaged during the rain and flash flood recently. At Saspol, the Minister directed the concerned to take stock of essential commodities immediately. The Minister was accorded war traditional reception at all the villages. |
