Breast Feeding Week celebrations at ASCOMS & Hospital

JAMMU, Aug 5: To commemorate World Breast Feeding Week, Department of Paediatrics, ASCOMS & H, in association with of Indian Academy of Paediatrics organized various activities regarding awareness on Breast Feeding. The Scientific Activities were organized under the supervision of Dr. Ravinder K Gupta, Prof & Head, Department of Paediatrics and Dr. Manoj Sharam, Assistant Professor, Deptt. of Paediatrics. Posters, Rangoli and a Skit were also presented by the students of Nursing College. Prof (Dr.) Indra Moza, Principal, ASCCON Education described in detail about the care of Breast before Feeding. A Symposium on Breast Feeding was also organized in which the Dr. Manoj Bhagat, Principal, Regional Institute of Health & Family Welfare, Jammu was the Chief Guest. The others present on this occasion were D.K.Batra, Secretary, ASCOMS, Dr. Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal, ASCOMS & Hospital, Dr. Ravinder K Gupta, Prof & HOD, Paediatrics, ASCOMS, Dr. Manmeet Singh, Prof & HOD, Psychiatry, Dr. Prabhjit Kour, Professor, Obstt. & Gynae, ASCOMS, Dr. N.K. Pargal, Dr. Romesh Khajuria, Assoc. Prof. Paediatric, ASCOMS, Dr. Rabinder Rattan Pal, Medical Supdtt, ASCOMS & Dr. Meraj Din Chauhan, DGM (Audit & Hosp Adm.) ASCOMS. This scientific activity was also attended by faculty, staff, Postgraduate students, paramedics and both MBBS and nursing students.
Various aspects of Breast Feeding were deliberated by the Postgraduate students namely Dr. Ariba Afeeh, Dr. Sharvil Dhar, Dr. Ayunshi Jain, Dr. Saima Yousuf and Undergraduate students Areeha Mushtaq and Amaan Mushtaq.
Dr. Ravinder Gupta after welcoming the chief guest briefed the audience about various activities conducted during this week and also highlighted the benefits of Breast Feeding to the newly born. Dr. Pavan Malhotra, appreciated the efforts of Department of Paediatrics for organizing this scientific event and also highlighted the significance of Breast Feeding. Dr. Manoj Bhagat, the chief guest congratulated Dr. Ravinder Gupta and his team for organizing this activity. In his address he laid stressed upon for making the atmosphere conducive for working mothers so that they can feed their newly born during working hours. He also appreciated the students who took part in this scientific activity. D.K. Batra, Secretary, ASCOMS felicitated Dr. Manoj Bhagat, the Chief Guest by presenting him a memento and thanked for gracing the occasion.
