Batwal Community demands economics package

The Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Community at its meeting held at Sri Guru Gyagi Shrine, Shahzadpur Kothi, discussed the present prevailing scenario of its members and urged the Registrar General, Planning Commission of India, New Delhi to keep a provision of ‘Economic Package’ for the Batwal Community in the XIth Five Years Plan. As per a press release, The Batwal Community also urged the coalition Government of Jammu and Kashmir to nominate at least its one member to the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Counsil as till date no member of the Batwal Community has been given this honour. Further, the Foundation stated that it has finalized all arrangements for religious activities to be organized on the occasion of Guru Gyagi Birthday and resolved to invite the new Chief Minister, J&K. Omar Abdullah as Chief Guest of the Birthday Commemorative Function scheduled to be held on February 9, 2009 at Shahzadpur Kothi.(in Block Marh), the release added.
