NHPC empowers students with awareness programme on clean energy

Faridabad, Aug 9: NHPC, a leading player in the energy sector, organized a noteworthy awareness programme at Murari Lal Senior Secondary School, Faridabad, as part of the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and ‘LAHAR’ initiatives. The event aimed to enlighten and engage students on the significance of clean energy and the vital role played by large hydropower projects.
Gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest was U.S. Sahi, Executive Director (Corporate Communication), NHPC. In his address to the students, he underscored the importance of large hydropower projects in generating clean energy for the nation. He shared insights on the various benefits of hydroelectricity and its positive impact on the environment.
The event featured a spirited speech competition on the topic ‘The need for large hydroelectric projects for generating clean energy in India.’ The students of Murari Lal Senior Secondary School participated fervently, showcasing their understanding and enthusiasm for clean energy solutions. As part of the programme, NHPC presented video clips highlighting the ‘Benefits from Large Hydroelectric Projects,’ providing valuable insights to the audience. Additionally, Suraj Dhiman, General Manager (Mechanical), NHPC, delivered a comprehensive lecture on the ‘Role of NHPC in Nation Building.’
The ‘LAHAR’ (Large Hydro Active Reach Out) initiative, launched by the Ministry of Power, Government of India, seeks to raise public awareness about the immense benefits of hydro projects across the country. The speech competition witnessed remarkable participation, with Kumari Monika, Kumari Nidhi, and Master Pushpendra Kumar securing the first, second, and third prizes, respectively. The winners were recognized and awarded by the esteemed Chief Guest, U.S. Sahi. NHPC’s concerted efforts in organizing such awareness programmes demonstrate their commitment to educating the younger generation about the importance of clean energy and their role in shaping a sustainable future.
