Early Times Report

Darhal, Aug 9: Government Degree College (GDC) Darhal set the stage for a 7-day special campaign under the banner of “Mere Mati, Mera Desh,” “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,” “G20,” and “Shikshit Bharat.” Organized by the NSS unit (IMDAD), the campaign commenced with a Panch Pran Pledge ceremony on August 9th, commemorating the 77th year of India’s Independence. The event was designed to celebrate the spirit of freedom and promote the five resolves outlined by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi during his Independence Day address to the nation in 2023.
The pledge ceremony saw enthusiastic participation from the college’s Principal, staff members, and students, all of whom took the pledge with a sense of fervor and unity. Mehr-un-Nisa, a student of B.A Sem. 3rd, eloquently delivered the pledge in English, shedding light on the significance of the Panch Pran and emphasizing commitment to the five key actions.
A symbolic gesture during the ceremony involved participants holding a handful of soil, signifying dedication towards the nation’s development and progress.
Guided by the leadership of Prof. Mussaraf Hussain Shah, the esteemed Principal of the college, the event’s objective was to celebrate patriotism, unity, and commitment to building a stronger and prosperous India. Prof. Shah emphasized that the ceremony exemplified the college’s dedication to promoting the values of the nation’s freedom struggle and its ongoing contribution to nation-building.
Dr. Sunil Kumar Mangoch, NSS Program Officer, played a pivotal role in coordinating the event and appreciating the efforts of the NSS volunteers. He expressed that the program aimed to uplift humanity, uphold India’s rich heritage, eliminate the mentality of subservience, foster unity, fulfill civic duties, and honor those who safeguard the nation.
The success of the event was also attributed to the contributions of staff members including Dr. Imtiaz Hussain Shah, Prof. Makhdoom Ahmed, Prof. Tahir Mahmood, Mr. Jameel Ahmed, and Mr. Saddam Hussain.
As the 7-day special campaign unfolds, GDC Darhal continues its commitment to promoting national values, unity, and progress, aligning with the themes of “Mere Mati, Mera Desh,” “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,” “G20,” and “Shikshit Bharat.”
