8/9/2023 10:33:38 PM
Early Times Report

Kathua, Aug 9: The NSS Units at Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua have ignited the flame of the nation-wide “Meri Mati Mera Desh” campaign, beginning on August 9, 2023, to pay homage to the valiant soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation. Principal Prof. Seema Mir, along with staff members, NSS Program officers, and volunteers, took the solemn Panch Pran Pledge to mark the commencement of this campaign. The pledge was eloquently articulated by the senior-most volunteer, Meenakshi Bakshi.
Spanning from August 9th to August 30th, 2023, the ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign will encompass various programs at both institutional and adopted panchayat levels. As part of this initiative, two panchayats, Jarai and Naroli under Nagri Block, have been adopted.
The campaign serves as a tribute to the courageous ‘Veers’ and is a culmination of the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav,’ which commenced on March 12, 2021. The initiative involves a series of programs nationwide, including the installation of memorial plaques, known as Shilaphalakams, in villages and panchayats to commemorate freedom fighters and security forces.
Activities such as Panch Pran Pledge, Vasudha Vandan, and Veeron ka Vandan are central to this campaign, emphasizing the heroic sacrifices of our brave soldiers. The installation of Shilaphalakams in honor of local heroes from the adopted panchayats will begin tomorrow at the panchayat level.
Under the patronage of Principal Prof. Seema Mir and the guidance of NSS Program officers Prof. Manmohan Singh, Prof. Neha Bandral, and Dr. Suresh Sharma, the activities of the “Meri Mati Mera Desh” campaign are poised to instill a sense of unity and reverence for the nation.
