GDC Ramnagar organizes Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan

Ramnagar, Aug 9: Government Degree College (GDC) Ramnagar, in conjunction with its Cultural and Debate & Symposium committee, collaborated with the NCORD committee to host a thought-provoking one-day event centered around the theme “Our Choice is Drug Free World.” The event was a part of the larger “Meri Maati, Mera Desh” initiative initiated by the District Administration of Udhampur. The symposium and slogan writing competition aimed to raise awareness about substance abuse and its impact on society, particularly among the youth.
The proceedings were inaugurated by Dr. Bhavnaish Chand, the Principal of GDC Ramnagar, who eloquently shared his insights on the global menace of drug abuse. He emphasized the importance of addressing this issue, underscoring that drug abuse has severe physical, mental, and societal consequences. The event aimed to foster a sense of responsibility, knowledge, and awareness among the students and the community, enabling them to make informed choices and lead drug-free lives.
With more than 100 students in attendance, the event saw active participation in both the symposium and slogan writing activities. Monalika Sharma from Semester 5 secured the top position in the slogan writing competition, followed by Shivani Devi and Kajal Thakur, both from Semester 3, in the second and third positions respectively. Bhageshwar Singh from Semester 3 clinched the first position in the symposium, while Ananya Rajput and Ankush Kalotra, both from Semester 5, secured the second and third positions respectively. The esteemed panel of judges, including Prof. Ritika Mahajan, Dr. Divya Puri, and Dr. Mukesh Sharma, meticulously evaluated the participants’ contributions in both the symposium and the slogan writing competition.
Dr. Mohd. Riaz, the Convenor of Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan, orchestrated the seamless execution of the entire event. The program was organized under the guidance and leadership of Dr. Bhavnaish Chand, Principal of GDC Ramnagar, who praised the organizers for their commendable initiative.
The event’s organizing committee comprised Dr. Monica (Convenor, Cultural and Debate & Symposium Committee), Dr. Om Parkash (HOD Sanskrit), Dr. Mohd. Riaz (Convenor, Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan), Prof. Ritika Mahajan (Convenor, Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, NSS PO), Dr. Divya Puri (HOD, Psychology), Dr. Rashmi Gupta (Faculty, Physics), Prof. Anice Ahmed (HOD English), and Dr. Sonam Gandotra (Faculty, Computer Applications).
Additionally, key faculty members, including Prof. Suresh Kumar Dogra (HOD, Physics), Prof. Harmeet Kour (HOD, Botany), Prof. Brinder Kumar (HOD, Zoology), Prof. Swarna Bhougal (HOD, Political Science), Prof. Aditya Sharma (HOD, Computer Applications), and Prof. Mushtaq Ahmed (HOD, BBA), graced the event with their presence.
The event concluded on a positive note with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Monica, HOD History, and participants were treated to refreshments as a gesture of appreciation for their active involvement.
