Jammu, Aug 9: In a spirited demonstration of environmental consciousness and patriotism, the NCC Army Wing of the 2nd Bn NCC Unit joined hands with the Eco Club of Maulana Azad Memorial College, a constituent college of the Cluster University of Jammu, to conduct a special campaign under the theme “Meri Maati Mera Desh.” The initiative was carried out as part of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebrations, commemorating 75 years of India’s independence. The event took place on August 9, 2023, under the guidance of the esteemed college Principal, Prof. (Dr) G.S. Rakwal.
The campaign, which embodies the spirit of “Meri Maati Mera Desh,” focused on fostering a stronger connection between individuals and the nation’s soil. The collaborative efforts of the NCC Army Wing and the Eco Club aimed to highlight the significance of environmental preservation and patriotic values.
Prof. (Dr) G.S. Rakwal, the Principal of Maulana Azad Memorial College, along with senior faculty members of the college, participated actively by planting an indigenous plant during the event. This symbolic act reflected the college’s commitment to nurturing the environment and enhancing the connection between the people and the land.
A significant highlight of the campaign was the “Panch Pran Pledge” ceremony, where NCC cadets and esteemed faculty members joined together to take a solemn pledge. This pledge, led by NCC officer Prof. Shiv Kumar and Eco Club Convener Prof. Sudesh Kumar, underscored their commitment to the well-being of the nation and its environment.
Embracing the ethos of “Meri Maati Mera Desh,” the NCC unit of the college also organized a thorough cleanliness drive within the college premises. The initiative, supervised by Senior Under Officer (SUO) Sanchit Manhor, demonstrated the importance of maintaining a clean and hygienic environment for the betterment of both the campus and the nation at large.
The event witnessed the presence of key individuals, including IQAC Coordinator Prof. Neeraj Sharma and NSS Coordinator Dr. Vishal Sharma, alongside other dedicated faculty members, who lent their support to the campaign’s noble cause.
The collaborative efforts of the NCC Army Wing and the Eco Club, guided by the visionary leadership of Prof. (Dr) G.S. Rakwal, exemplify the essence of “Meri Maati Mera Desh” and contribute to the profound spirit of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebrations.
