Early Times Report

Udhampur, Aug 9: In a spirited display of patriotism and environmental responsibility, the NSS unit of GDC Neeli Nallah Udhampur concluded a two-day cleanliness and plantation drive today, August 9th, 2023. The event was part of the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” and “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” campaigns, commemorating India’s 76th year of independence.
The campaign kickstarted on August 8th with an energetic cleanliness drive across the college campus, targeting the removal of bhang plants and Parthenium grass.
Additionally, the volunteers meticulously tended to previously planted vegetation, ensuring their healthy growth. Preparations for fresh plantations were carried out, including the digging of pits.
August 9th saw the culmination of the initiative as approximately 50 saplings of diverse plant species were planted by the dedicated NSS volunteers. The ceremonial planting was initiated by Prof. Hans Raj, the esteemed Principal of GDC Neeli Nallah, who sowed the first sapling – a medicinal plant.
The entire event was skillfully coordinated by Prof. Radha Rani, NSS Program Officer, with the invaluable support of the organizing committee led by Prof. Swati Dutt.
The planting event witnessed enthusiastic participation from figures such as Mr. Suram Chand, Rajeshwar Singh Jamwal, and Karan Magotra, who actively contributed to the noble cause. This collaborative effort underscores the college’s commitment to fostering a cleaner environment and promoting the ideals of national pride.
The successful execution of this cleanliness and plantation drive not only reinforces the college’s dedication to sustainable practices but also serves as a fitting tribute to India’s 76th year of independence. The harmonious blend of environmental consciousness and patriotic fervor exemplifies the spirit of unity that underpins the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” and “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” campaigns.
The event stands as a testament to the positive impact that collective efforts can achieve in nurturing both the environment and the nation’s progress.
As the saplings take root and thrive, they symbolize the growth and prosperity of a united India, moving forward into a greener and brighter future.
