Early Times Report
MENDHAR, Aug 13: Javed Ahmed Rana, President of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) Pir Panjal Zone and former Legislator, reiterated that constructive dialogue is the only viable solution to reclaim the territory currently under Pakistan's illegal possession.
Rana, welcoming and supporting Dr. Farooq Abdullah's call for talks with Pakistan, emphasized that the National Conference has consistently advocated for peaceful dialogue as the means to address this complex issue. He pointed out that over 40 percent of the Pir Panjal region remains under Pakistan's illegal possession. He stressed that dialogue is crucial in resolving the long-standing territorial dispute and restoring peace and stability in the region.
"We firmly believe that resorting to war is not a sustainable solution. How can India regain our territory without meaningful dialogue with Pakistan?" stated Rana. He underlined the severe consequences of past conflicts and emphasized the importance of seeking peaceful resolutions to prolonged issues.
Drawing insights from the book 'Untold Story of India's Partition,' Rana shed light on the historical context of regions like Gilgit Baltistan that were surrendered to Pakistan under certain circumstances. He reiterated the National Conference's demand to address these territorial challenges, emphasizing that Pakistan and China both occupy parts of India's rightful territory.
Rana proposed a way forward, stating, "Just as India engages in diplomatic talks with China, dialogue with Pakistan should also be a priority. Our territorial integrity is paramount, and discussions must be pursued as the most effective means to resolve this complex issue."
He asserted that the National Conference aims to regain the territory and highlighted the need for India to prioritize diplomatic negotiations and peaceful means to restore sovereignty over areas currently under illegal occupation by Pakistan and China.
