Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 13: As a part of its commitment to the mission 'Meri Matti Mera Desh', Natrang showcased Radhakrishna Sahay's play 'Matribhumi' in Hindi during its Sunday Theatre Series. The performance took place at Natrang's Studio Theatre in Kachi Chawni, Jammu. The play was directed by Neeraj Kant.
The play opens with noisy background sounds, and one of the performers apologizes to the audience, explaining that due to an attack on their actor who is also a press reporter, the play cannot be presented. However, two other actors intervene, assuring the audience that the play will indeed proceed, while also investigating the reason behind the attack on their colleague.
Subsequently, the play unfolds with the actors sequentially portraying the attack on their fellow actor in front of the audience.
The storyline revolves around the news of uranium theft in the country. Yuvak-1 and Yuvak-2 reveal that their fellow actor Chandrakar reported the entire uranium scandal. Those involved in the scandal are pursuing Chandrakar to retrieve the evidence from him.
The uranium shortage in the country led to its import from the United States, but now, with America ceasing its supply, stolen uranium is being smuggled to neighboring countries. Characters Gupta and Karamchand, who are directly connected to the uranium scandal, have conversations in the play. Gupta instructs Karamchand to deal with Chandrakar. Meanwhile, Gupta receives a call from a minister. Karamchand offers Chandrakar up to twenty-five lakh rupees to keep him quiet, but Chandrakar refuses and upholds his patriotic spirit. Karamchand eventually has Chandrakar killed by his henchmen. This reveals the truth behind the attack on Chandrakar.
The play featured young artists from Natrang, including Aadesh Dhar, Chirag Anand, Abhimanyu Choudhary, Vedhant Suri, and Sumit Singh Bandaral. The play's publicity was designed by Vanshika Pandoh. Neeraj Kant designed and executed the lighting, while Brijesh Avtar Sharma provided the music. The presentations were handled by Asma Gul, and the show coordination was managed by Mohd. Yaseen.
