8/13/2023 10:17:15 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 13: As part of the comprehensive range of activities organized under the auspices of the Meri Mati Mera Desh initiative, the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Govt. Degree College Chatroo embarked on a notable plantation endeavor within the college premises. This endeavor, known as the "Amrut Vatika" project, aims to foster widespread student involvement and conscientious environmental stewardship.
In alignment with the Programme Guidelines, the NSS volunteers, with the wholehearted support of the college staff, successfully planted 75 saplings of diverse origins, symbolizing a commitment to safeguarding the environment. Driven by the overarching guidance of Dr. Ved Kumar, Principal of the College, and executed under the careful supervision of Prof. Chander Parkash, the NSS Program Officer, the plantation drive saw the active participation of various individuals.
Among those who actively contributed to the planting effort were esteemed individuals such as Dr. Ashaq Hussain, Dr. Muddasser Nazar, Dr. Jaswant Singh, Prof. Ajeet Kumar, and Prof. Waseem Rasheed, alongside the dedicated NSS volunteers. Dr. Ved Kumar, in his motivating address to the NSS volunteers, emphasized that this campaign serves as a heartfelt tribute to the homeland, with a series of activities aimed at honoring the very soil of the motherland. The campaign resonates with the slogan 'Maati Ko Naman Veeron Ka Vandan,' encapsulating a deep reverence for the land and the valorous sacrifices of Indian freedom fighters.
Furthermore, Dr. Ved Kumar highlighted that it is our collective responsibility to preserve the legacy and dignity of these valiant heroes who laid down their lives to secure our nation's freedom. In conjunction with the ongoing initiatives, the college is gearing up to host a Tiranga Rally, an event of homage titled "Veeron Ka Vandan," and the ceremonial hoisting of the National Flag on both August 14 and 15, 2023.
The "Amrut Vatika" project not only stands as a testament to the college's commitment to environmental conservation but also signifies the harmonious blend of historical reverence and contemporary responsibility within the realm of education. Through these endeavors, Govt. Degree College Chatroo demonstrates its dedication to fostering a sense of duty towards the nation and the environment among its students and the wider community.
