At the ‘National Group meeting of Maize-based production system’, organized by All India Co-ordinated Research project fro dryland agriculture at Bhilwara, Rajasthan, Dr. Anil Sharma, Jr. Scientist (soils) of SKAIST’s Dryland research sub station, Rakh Dhiansar has been made the national team leader of maize based production system and has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting research on carbon and nutriest balance in soils of rain areas of Jammu, besides compilation and analysis of data generated in other research centers in Punjab and Rajasthan to provide a workable guide for the application of in organic nutrients in soil for increasing crop productivity and improving soil health.
The meeting at Bhilwara was organized to ponder upon the problems confronted by dryland formers and steps to be taken for transfer of agricultural technologies emerged after persistent researches by scientists at various research centers to ameliorate the socio-economic status of formers vis-a vis adding more to the food bowl of the country.
The meeting was attended by a team of scientists of sher-e-kashmir university of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Jammu working on rainfed crops at dryland research sub station, Rakh Dhiansar near Bari Brahmana, Jammu led by Dr. V.S. Verma Sr. Scientist and incharge of the station.
