JKAACL organizes Punjabi Kavi Darbar & Cultural Program at Guru Nanak High School Tral

PULWAMA, Aug 19: The Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture & Languages (JKAACL) hosted a vibrant Punjabi Kavi Darbar & Cultural program at Guru Nanak High School in Tral (Kashmir). This event was conducted under the guidance of Bharat Singh JKAS, Secretary of J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages. The program aimed to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Punjab and promote regional languages. The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including S. Naranjan Singh, former Principal, as the chief guest. S. Kulwant Singh, President of DGPC Pulwama, Popinder Singh Paras, Editor of Sheeraza Punjabi, and S. Surjit Singh Raina, Principal of Guru Nanak High School Tral, were also present in the presidium. In his address, S. Naranjan Singh commended the Academy's efforts in supporting regional languages, including Punjabi, which holds prominence around the world. He acknowledged JKAACL's historical programs in various regions, which contribute to nurturing the next generation's cultural connection. The budding Punjabi poets, students from grades 9th and 10th at GNHS Tral, showcased their creativity by presenting poetry that touched upon diverse societal issues and contemporary life situations. S. Kulwant Singh highlighted the significance of using Punjabi as a mother tongue at the family level and praised JKAACL for promoting Punjabi literature and culture through events like Punjabi Kavi Darbar. S. Surjit Singh Raina, the Principal of Guru Nanak High School Tral, welcomed the attendees and underscored the importance of such programs in preserving cultural diversity and the identity of Punjabi language and literature. Popinder Singh Paras emphasized the Academy's role in providing a platform for young poets and artists to display their talents, ensuring that cultural traditions remain vibrant in the younger generation. He mentioned that JKAACL has plans to hold similar literary and cultural activities across different regions in Jammu & Kashmir. The event featured a lineup of students reciting their poetry and performing Bhangra and Gidha, traditional Punjabi dance forms, which added a colorful and energetic element to the cultural program.
