JAMMU, Aug 19: Vikram Randhawa, former Member of the Legislative Council, met with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at the Raj Bhawan today, presenting a memorandum outlining various public demands.
During the meeting, Randhawa emphasized the untapped sporting potential of the region and stressed the importance of nurturing local talent.
He brought to the Lieutenant Governor's attention the absence of a stadium in the Jammu South RS Pura Assembly segment, which hampers the youth's ability to develop their sports skills.
Randhawa stated, "The youths in the border areas possess immense potential and can bring pride to India and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir with adequate sports facilities."
He proposed the establishment of a mini stadium and sports facilities in the border areas of Jammu South RS Pura Assembly segment, which would provide a platform for the youth to excel nationally and internationally.
Randhawa also addressed the issue of delayed appointment orders for 120 compilers, who were selected by the Finance Department in 2017. He highlighted that despite a selection list being issued in 2021, the appointment letters were pending due to procedural issues.
"The appointment orders for these 120 compilers must be issued promptly as they are nearing the age limit," Randhawa urged.
He commended the Lieutenant Governor for launching people-friendly schemes and praised the Geology and Mining Department's transparent tendering of mining blocks. However, he expressed concern about the "Mining Mafia" charging hefty fees under the pretext of royalty and demanded immediate action against them.
The Lieutenant Governor attentively listened to Randhawa's concerns and assured him that the issues raised would be taken up with relevant authorities for effective resolution.
