Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 19: In a significant breakthrough, the Special team of the Economic Offences Wing, Crime Branch Jammu, has successfully apprehended a long-sought absconder accused, Gh. Rasool Mir, also known as Rasool DC. The accused, who had been evading authorities for a staggering 8 years, was arrested from Srinagar City.
The arrest is in connection with Case FIR No. 21/2007 registered under Sections 419, 420, 467, 468, 471, and 120-B of the RPC at the Crime Branch Jammu. Gh. Rasool Mir's alleged involvement as a land broker came to light, where he was accused of conspiring with Revenue Authorities and two other parties to orchestrate a fraudulent scheme. This scheme aimed to facilitate the transfer of valuable migrant property in Srinagar City, with an estimated worth of crores of rupees. The criminal conspiracy involved the forgery of a fake power of attorney.
The case gained momentum with the submission of the charge-sheet to the Court of Law on 23-03-2015. The charge-sheet implicated a total of 12 individuals, including the elusive accused Gh. Rasool Mir. The accused had managed to elude authorities for an astonishing 16 years, and in light of his continuous evasion, the court had issued an arrest warrant under Section 512 of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.PC).
This successful arrest marks a major victory for the Economic Offences Wing, Crime Branch Jammu, and stands as a testament to their relentless pursuit of justice. The arrest of Gh. Rasool Mir @ Rasool DC underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies in ensuring that individuals who attempt to undermine the legal system and engage in fraudulent activities are brought to justice, no matter the duration of their evasion.
This development serves as a reminder that the law is steadfast and resolute in its pursuit of those who commit crimes, even if they attempt to evade justice for an extended period. The apprehension of the accused demonstrates that the efforts of law enforcement agencies, coupled with the authority of the judiciary, can ultimately lead to the apprehension and prosecution of those who seek to exploit the system for personal gain.
